Symbiotes are talkative objects that acquire a semblance of life through the sounds they emit, entering into a symbiotic relationship with the soundscape of a place.
Grouped in colonies and sensitive to their immediate environment, they attempt approximate dialogues with our territorial activities. They produce an artificial biophony that integrates into existing soundscapes.
Inspired by the sound-making objects that populate our daily lives, they are the semi-wild counterparts of our domestic machines. Simple, autonomous objects, naturally prolific, willingly lending themselves to anthropomorphisms, unconcerned with human well-being, they result from a fortuitous sonic crossbreed between a cicada and a cash register.
